Final Projects or Artifacts:

Students will participate in a group performance that showcases their learning and skills developed throughout the course. Each group will select a piece of music that incorporates a variety of percussion instruments. Students will collaborate to arrange their parts, practice, and finally perform their piece for the class, or at a school event, demonstrating teamwork, creativity, and their understanding of rhythm and percussion techniques.

  • Access to Printer (for Instructor documents)

Program Description:

This course is designed to provide young learners with a foundational understanding of percussion instruments, including their history, types, and playing techniques. Through interactive lessons, hands-on practice, and creative exploration, students will develop a deep appreciation for the role of percussion in music across cultures and genres. The course aims to foster musical literacy, enhance coordination and rhythm skills, and encourage teamwork and self-expression among students. By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize various percussion instruments, understand basic rhythms, and perform simple percussion pieces both individually and as part of an ensemble.
