This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the cosmetology industry, focusing on career pathways, industry knowledge, and professional expectations without hands-on application. Students will explore areas such as hair, skincare, nail technology, and makeup artistry, while learning about licensing requirements, education pathways, certifications, and workplace environments. The course also covers essential topics including client communication, hygiene and safety standards, business fundamentals, and industry trends. Through discussions, research, and case studies, students will gain a clear understanding of the opportunities within cosmetology and how to pursue a career in the field.

The final project can include: A Cosmetology Career Pathway Report – A detailed exploration of a chosen specialization (e.g., hairstylist, esthetician, nail technician), including training, licensing, and job outlook. A Licensing and Education Guide – A research-based overview of the requirements to become a licensed professional in the student’s state. A Professional Skills and Client Interaction Plan – A guide outlining communication techniques, professionalism, and workplace expectations in cosmetology. An Industry Trends Presentation – A report on current trends, innovations, or business opportunities within the beauty industry.
