About this program

This course is designed for students looking to improve their skills and compete in Super Smash Bros. esports tournaments. Participants will learn core mechanics such as movement, spacing, combo execution, and edge-guarding while developing advanced strategies like character matchups, mind games, and stage control. The course emphasizes the importance of adaptability, mental focus, and reading opponents’ playstyles. Students will analyze professional gameplay, participate in structured training sessions, and engage in mock tournaments to enhance their competitive performance.

The final project can include: A Gameplay Highlight Reel – A recorded showcase of combos, edge-guards, and clutch plays. A Character Guide – A detailed breakdown of a chosen fighter, including strengths, weaknesses, moves, and matchup strategies. A Match Analysis Report – A review of a recorded match (personal or professional), identifying decision-making, positioning, and areas for improvement. A Competitive Strategy Plan – A guide outlining stage selection, playstyle adjustments, and strategies for different opponents.
