About this program

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of traditional art techniques, focusing on hands-on creation using physical materials. Students will explore core artistic principles including line, shape, shading, perspective, color theory, and composition. The course encourages creative expression, observation, and experimentation, helping students develop both technical skills and their unique artistic voice. Through guided projects and open-ended work, students will build confidence in their ability to create and analyze visual art.

Final projects or artifacts

The final project can include: A Curated Art Portfolio – A collection of completed works showcasing a variety of techniques and mediums. A Themed Art Series – A group of pieces centered around a specific idea, concept, or subject matter. A Process Sketchbook – Preliminary sketches, studies, and practice work demonstrating artistic growth and exploration. An Artist Statement – A written reflection explaining inspiration, techniques used, and personal artistic development.
