This course prepares students for the Google Cybersecurity Certificate by introducing the knowledge and practical skills used by entry-level cybersecurity professionals. Students will learn about security operations, Linux fundamentals, networking, SQL, threat detection, incident response, risk management, security tools, SIEM platforms, and cybersecurity best practices. Through hands-on labs, case studies, and real-world scenarios, students will strengthen their analytical thinking and technical skills while exploring career pathways in cybersecurity and information security.
The final project can include: A Cybersecurity Incident Response Report documenting investigation and mitigation procedures. A Security Risk Assessment evaluating vulnerabilities and recommending security improvements. A Cybersecurity Operations Portfolio demonstrating familiarity with common security tools and workflows. A Certification Readiness Portfolio containing completed labs, practice assessments, and professional development plans.
