This course prepares students for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification by introducing the core concepts of information technology and computer systems. Designed for students beginning their journey into technology careers, the course explores topics including computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, databases, networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, programming fundamentals, and troubleshooting techniques. Students will develop digital literacy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills through interactive activities, hands-on technology exercises, and certification-style practice questions. The course also introduces a variety of IT career pathways, helping students understand the many opportunities available within the technology industry while preparing for an industry-recognized certification.
The final project can include: An IT Systems Portfolio demonstrating knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity concepts. A Computer Troubleshooting Guide outlining diagnostic procedures and solutions for common technology issues. An Information Technology Career Exploration Report highlighting certification pathways, education requirements, and career opportunities.
