This course prepares students for the OpenEDG Python Institute certification pathway, with a focus on building the skills needed for entry-level and intermediate Python exams such as PCEP and/or PCAP, depending on student readiness. Students will learn core Python concepts including variables, data types, operators, conditionals, loops, functions, lists, tuples, dictionaries, strings, modules, exceptions, and basic object-oriented programming. Through guided practice, coding challenges, debugging exercises, and exam-style questions, students will strengthen both practical programming ability and test readiness. The course emphasizes writing clean, logical code, understanding how programs execute, and applying Python to solve real-world problems. OpenEDG/Python Institute exams are delivered through the TestNow platform and may also be available through authorized testing centers.
The final project can include: A Python Certification Practice Portfolio – Completed exam-style coding questions, code-tracing exercises, and explanations. A Functional Python Program – A small app, calculator, quiz, data tool, or automation script demonstrating certification-level skills. A Debugging and Code Analysis Log – Examples of errors identified, corrected, and explained. A Certification Readiness Plan – A personalized study plan identifying strengths, focus areas, and next steps toward the PCEP or PCAP exam.
