The final project can include: A Custom Campaign or One-Shot Adventure – A fully designed game session including setting, plot, characters (NPCs), and encounters. A Dungeon Master Guidebook – A student-created reference outlining rules, storytelling techniques, and strategies for running a game. A Live DM Session – Leading a short gameplay session with peers, demonstrating pacing, improvisation, and rule management. A Reflection on Leadership and Storytelling – A summary of challenges, successes, and skills developed as a Dungeon Master.

Program Requirements:

  • Laptop (1 per student)
  • Instructor access to SmartBoard or Projector
  • General Stationary - Ex: Pencils paper pens
  • Access to Printer (for Instructor documents)

Program Description:

This course teaches students how to lead and facilitate a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) game as a Dungeon Master (DM), guiding players through immersive stories and collaborative adventures. Students will learn how to build worlds, create engaging narratives, design encounters, manage game rules, and adapt to player choices in real time. The course emphasizes storytelling, improvisation, leadership, and organization, helping students develop the skills needed to run successful campaigns. Students will also explore how to balance gameplay, maintain pacing, and create inclusive, engaging experiences for all players.
