Final Projects or Artifacts:
The final project can include: A Programmed Robot Challenge – A Sphero robot completing a task such as navigating a maze, racing through a course, or responding to sensor input. A Code Walkthrough and Explanation – A written or recorded explanation of how the code controls movement, logic, and behavior. A Design and Iteration Log – Documentation of testing, adjustments, and improvements made throughout the project. A Creative Robotics Application – A unique use of Sphero (e.g., interactive game, storytelling activity, or simulation).
Program Requirements:
Program Description:
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of coding and robotics using Sphero robots, combining hands-on learning with interactive programming. Students will begin with block-based coding and can progress to JavaScript-based programming using the Sphero Edu platform. Key concepts include movement control, speed, direction, loops, conditionals, variables, and sensor integration. Through guided challenges and creative projects, students will learn how to program robots to complete tasks, respond to environments, and solve problems. The course emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application of coding concepts in an engaging and dynamic setting.
