Students will create an APUSH Mastery Portfolio, which can include: A DBQ (Document-Based Question) Essay – A well-structured, evidence-based response to a historical prompt using primary sources. A Thematic Timeline – A visual or written timeline highlighting key events, movements, and themes across different APUSH time periods. An LEQ (Long Essay Question) Response – A deep analysis of historical change and continuity over time or comparison of different periods. A Self-Reflection and Study Plan – A personal assessment of strengths, areas for improvement, and strategies for mastering APUSH content.

Program Description:
This course is designed to prepare students for the AP United States History (APUSH) exam, focusing on historical analysis, critical thinking, and essay-writing skills. Students will explore key events, themes, and turning points in American history from pre-Columbian societies to the present, while analyzing primary and secondary sources. The course emphasizes historical reasoning skills, including comparison, causation, continuity and change over time, and teaches students to construct strong DBQ (Document-Based Question), LEQ (Long Essay Question), and SAQ (Short Answer Question) responses. Through structured study plans, practice exams, and interactive discussions, students will develop a deep understanding of America’s political, social, and economic history to excel on the AP exam.
