Final Projects or Artifacts:

Students will create an AP Literature Portfolio, which can include: A Literary Analysis Essay – A close reading of a novel, play, or poem, examining themes, symbolism, and author’s style. A Poetry Explication – A detailed analysis of a poem, focusing on imagery, structure, and meaning. An Open-Ended Essay – A response to an AP-style prompt analyzing a novel or play of the student’s choice. A Writing Reflection – A self-assessment of their growth in literary analysis and essay writing, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.

Program Requirements:

  • Instructor access to SmartBoard or Projector
  • Laptop 1 per student (ex: Chromebook; Lenovo)
  • General Stationary - Ex: Pencils paper pens
  • Access to Printer (for Instructor documents)

Program Description:

This course is designed to prepare students for the AP English Literature and Composition exam, focusing on the analysis of fiction, poetry, and drama. Students will explore literary elements such as theme, tone, symbolism, structure, and figurative language while developing critical reading and essay-writing skills. The course emphasizes close reading techniques, literary interpretation, and argument construction to help students analyze complex texts effectively. Through timed writings, literary discussions, and peer review, students will refine their ability to craft insightful, well-supported literary arguments, ensuring success on the AP exam and in future college-level literature courses.
