Final Projects or Artifacts:

Students will create an AP English Language and Composition Portfolio, which can include: A Rhetorical Analysis Essay – A written breakdown of a famous speech or article, identifying rhetorical devices, tone, and effectiveness. A Persuasive Argument Essay – A well-researched, evidence-based essay taking a stance on a current issue, demonstrating logical reasoning and persuasive techniques. A Synthesis Essay – An AP-style essay incorporating multiple sources to form a coherent argument on a given topic. A Writing Reflection – A personal reflection analyzing writing growth, strengths, and areas for improvement throughout the course.

  • Instructor access to SmartBoard or Projector
  • Laptop 1 per student (ex: Chromebook; Lenovo)
  • General Stationary - Ex: Pencils paper pens
  • Access to Printer (for Instructor documents)

Program Description:

This course is designed to develop students' abilities in rhetorical analysis, argumentation, and evidence-based writing, preparing them for the AP English Language and Composition exam. Students will analyze nonfiction texts, including essays, speeches, letters, and articles, to understand how writers craft arguments and persuade audiences. The course focuses on rhetorical strategies, synthesis writing, and constructing logical arguments, while also strengthening students' grammar, vocabulary, and critical reading skills. Through practice essays, timed writings, and peer review, students will refine their writing style and analytical abilities to succeed in both the AP exam and college-level writing.
