(Grades 8-12)
Final Projects or Artifacts:
Students will create a Geometry Mastery Portfolio, which includes: A step-by-step geometric proof demonstrating mastery of logical reasoning and deductive thinking. A real-world application project, such as designing a blueprint for a building, analyzing the geometry in art and architecture, or using trigonometry to calculate distances. A coordinate geometry investigation, where students graph and analyze transformations, slopes, and areas of geometric figures using algebraic methods.
Program Requirements:
Program Description:
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of geometric principles, focusing on spatial reasoning, logical reasoning, and problem-solving. Topics covered include points, lines, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, coordinate geometry, transformations, similarity and congruence, and trigonometric applications. Students will also develop skills in geometric proofs, construction, and real-world applications of geometry. The course emphasizes critical thinking and visualization, preparing students for standardized tests such as the Geometry Regents and future advanced math courses.
