Students will create an Algebra Mastery Portfolio, which includes: A step-by-step solution guide for solving a complex algebraic problem, demonstrating key problem-solving techniques. A real-world application project, such as using algebra to analyze financial budgeting, population growth, or physics-based motion equations. A self-reflection on their progress in Algebra 1, highlighting challenges faced, strategies for improvement, and key concepts they have mastered.

Program Requirements:

  • Instructor access to SmartBoard or Projector
  • General Stationary - Ex: Pencils paper pens
  • Subject Specific Curriculum Materials (ex: student homework or textbook/worksheets)
  • Calculator(s)

Program Description:

This course provides students with a strong foundation in Algebra 1 concepts, focusing on problem-solving, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning. Topics covered include linear equations, inequalities, functions, polynomials, factoring, quadratic equations, exponents, and data analysis. Students will engage in guided instruction, practice problems, real-world applications, and test-taking strategies to build confidence and mastery. The course also includes preparation for standardized exams, such as state assessments and the Algebra 1 Regents, ensuring students develop the skills necessary for success in higher-level math courses.
