Program Description:

The Introduction to Nursing course is designed to provide high school students with a foundational understanding of the nursing profession and its critical role within the healthcare system. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, students will explore the history, ethics, and principles of nursing while developing essential skills in communication, empathy, and teamwork. This course introduces students to key topics such as human anatomy and physiology, basic medical terminology, patient care practices, and infection control. In addition, students will receive an introduction to the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) requirements and begin developing test-taking strategies to prepare for future success. Students will also learn about different nursing pathways, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and advanced practice nurses (APNs). Career exploration, real-world case studies, and guest speakers will offer insights into the diverse opportunities available in the field of nursing. Early exposure to NCLEX-related content ensures that students are well-prepared to advance in their educational journey toward becoming licensed nursing professionals.
